Massage Therapy
Our School of Massage Therapy offers two accredited programs designed to provide you with the education and training you need to pursue a career in massage therapy.
Chinese Massage Therapy Program
The Chinese Massage Therapy program at the American Institute of Alternative Medicine is designed to thoroughly prepare you for a career as a licensed massage therapist (LMT). In the program, learn traditional Chinese medicine theory and the various soft tissue manipulation techniques unique to Chinese massage therapy. Swedish massage philosophies are also covered.
To enhance client relationships, you can also learn the importance of interpersonal interactions, client/therapist relations and ethics. Develop a business plan that supports your career goals. Upon completion of the program, you can be prepared to sit for both the Ohio State Medical Board's massage therapy licensure examination and the national examination in Asian Bodywork Therapy of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Western Massage Therapy Program
The Western Massage Therapy program at the American Institute of Alternative Medicine features a curriculum of Swedish massage therapy, bio-medical science material and clinical training, as well as essential training for certification in neuromuscular therapy. To enhance client relationships, you can also learn the importance of interpersonal interactions, client/therapist relations and ethics. Our program can be completed in 9 or 12 months. After completing the program and earning a diploma, students are prepared to sit for the Ohio State Medical Board's exam for licensed massage therapy. Passage of the exam grants you the right to practice therapeutic massage as a licensed massage therapist (LMT) in the state of Ohio. You may also take exams that qualify you to practice massage therapy in other states.
